Beginning today in Pasco Washington is the annual Heritage Days at Sacajawea State Park. Heritage Days is presented by the Mid-Columbia Traditional Arts and Music Association and the Wildhorse Foundation. This is a weekend long event that begins today, September 24 at 9:00am-3:00pm, and goes through Sunday. Saturday the event will begin at 10:00am and go until 5:00pm, Sunday the event will begin at 10:00am and go until 3:00pm.

On September 18 the Pasco Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual Sunshine Ball Masquerade event, Carnival by the Canal. The Sunshine Ball is held every year to formally announce the new board members as well as to show appreciation to past board members, volunteers, and community members for their service. The Benton Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding a fundraiser garden party dinner and auction on Saturday, August 28. This event is being held to raise money for the services provided by the Benton Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross. Rouge Royale will take place on the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Moore Mansion in Pasco Washington. The Columbia Basin College Arts and Humanities Department is pleased to present as part of their Summer Showcase, a wonderful musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. This musical comedy will be performed by theatre students and faculty at the CBC Theatre in Pasco Washington. This weekend on August 7, Preston Premium Wines presents Tiki Beach Blowout at their facilities in Pasco, Washington. The event will feature a concert by the band Plastic Soul and it is a Hawaiian themed event, complete with pig, so wear your best Hawaiian attire. Memorial Day Events around the Mid ColumbiaIn honor of those who have served and are serving there will be multiple ceremonies around the Mid Columbia on Memorial Day.  

At the Columbia Memorial Gardens in Pasco Washington the American Legion Post 34 will be holding a ceremony at 10:00 am and again at 1:00 pm at the Cityview Cemetery. Following the ceremonies will be beef stew and cornbread at the Legion Post in Pasco.

At 10:30 am at the new Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Governor Chris Gregoire will help open and dedicate the first state veteran’s cemetery which will be in Medical Lake. This cemetery will be able to serve nearly 140,000 veterans and their families in Eastern Washington.

The Pasco School District of Pasco Washington was the first official school district in the state of Washington. There are 19 schools in the Pasco School District; one early learning center, 11 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 high schools, and 1 alternative middle and secondary school, and the State's first science, technology, engineering, and math high school – Delta. The district is currently serving around 14,000 students, 73% are minorities and 34% are learning English as their second language. Every year since 2000 there have been on average 525 additional students enrolled each year. In the Pasco School District there are over 1100 teachers, librarians, and counselors helping to educate the students of Pasco.

Columbia Basin College LogoThe Art Department at Columbia Basin College, in Pasco Washington, will be putting on their Annual Juried Student Exhibition. The exhibition will begin on May 17 in the Esvelt Gallery at CBC, there will be an opening reception and awards ceremony on May 20 beginning at 7:00pm. A collection of student work will be displayed that reflects the finest efforts of CBC art students, past and present. The exhibit is open to the public, the gallery hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:00am to 8:30pm, and Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm; admission is free.
