Kennewick Washington Population
Part of Washington’s Tri Cities, which also includes the communities of Pasco and Richland, Kennewick is the largest and heaviest populated, with a 2010 population estimate of 75,971. As the biggest community in all of Washington’s Benton County, Kennewick is also a growing community of homes, with 38.9% increase since 2000, according to the U.S. 2010 census. The census also reported 27266 households and 18,528 families, the majority being Caucasian, with a smattering of other races including Hispanic, Latino, African American,Asian, Native American, among others. Most Kennewick residents are families with adults between 25 and 64 and children under 18 with a median family income of $51,730.
The History Behind Kennewick
Many people believe and claim the name “Kennewick” means “grassy place” in a native language. Before becoming officially incorporated as a city on February 5, 1904, Kennewick Wa was known by a number of different names, including “Tehe”—named for a native girl’s laughter in reaction to being asked for the region’s name. In the early 20th century, Kennewick was known for its creamery, grape juice factory, and home to the Northern Pacific Railroad. Kennewick is known world wide for the "Kennewick Man."

Of course, education is also something to take into consideration, and the Kennewick School District is of top-notch quality. The city includes a total of thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools.
