Beginning today in Pasco Washington is the annual Heritage Days at Sacajawea State Park. Heritage Days is presented by the Mid-Columbia Traditional Arts and Music Association and the Wildhorse Foundation. This is a weekend long event that begins today, September 24 at 9:00am-3:00pm, and goes through Sunday. Saturday the event will begin at 10:00am and go until 5:00pm, Sunday the event will begin at 10:00am and go until 3:00pm.

The weekend will be full of many activities; Friday is devoted to school visits but is still open to the public. On Saturday or Sunday visit Tribes and Mountain Men all day or there is a day full of stage programs; at 1:00pm check out the Juniper Bush Huggers, 1:45pm enjoy Mountain Men stories with “Three Kids,” 2:00pm is a Umatilla tribal dancing and drumming performance, 3:00pm is a musical performance by Squirrel Butter. The stage performances will conclude at 4:00pm, there will be a campfire program later in the evening that will begin at 7:00pm. The campfire program is a leisurely time of music, singing, storytelling, and just having a good time. Food vendors will be present if you would like dinner before the campfire program. The Sunday stage performances will consist of the Fiddl’n Ranger and Friends at 1:00pm and a 2:00pm performance by Umatilla Tribal Dancing and Drumming.

Adults and children alike will enjoy this weekend of festivities so bring the whole family and spend time at any of the scheduled stage performances or experience living history with the Corps of Discovery portrayals, Plateau Tribal culture, Mountain Men Encampments, exhibits and demonstrations, and arts and crafts.
