The Columbia Basin College Arts and Humanities Department is pleased to present as part of their Summer Showcase, a wonderful musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. This musical comedy will be performed by theatre students and faculty at the CBC Theatre in Pasco Washington. Showings will be on August 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21 at 7:30pm and August 15 and 22 at 2:00pm. Tickets cost $17 for adults and $15 for students and seniors; these can be purchased at Shelby’s Floral in Kennewick, Adventure Underground Bookstore in Richland, The CBC Performing Arts Office on the Pasco Campus, and at the door. The Drowsy Chaperone is rated G/PG.
The Drowsy Chaperone debuted in 1998 and was performed on Broadway, it has been the recipient of five Tony Awards. The Drowsy Chaperone is based off of a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellarson, music and lyrics were written by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. The play starts off with a musical fan playing his favorite cast album, a 1928 smash hit, The Drowsy Chaperone. The show bursts to life and the story unfolds immersing the audience hilarious story of a celebrity bride preparing for her wedding day. The uproarious tale takes the audience and the cast soaring through the rafters, well maybe not the audience but definitely the cast.
