Friday Night Sky Viewing at LIGO in Richland Washington

On Friday, August 13 the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) in Richland Washington will be hosting Friday Night sky Lights. Come out and look at planets, stars, meteors, and more! This will be a great thing to bring the whole family to! The evening will consist of a showing of the film “Monster of the Milky Way” at 7:30pm, a showing of the film “Seeing in the Dark” at 8:30 and then night sky viewing at 9:30pm for all who are in attendance; the night sky viewing will last until 1:30am. During the night sky viewing there will be telescopes available to look through and see many objects in the night sky whether near or far.

Columbia Basin College Presents The Drowsy Chaperone

The Columbia Basin College Arts and Humanities Department is pleased to present as part of their Summer Showcase, a wonderful musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. This musical comedy will be performed by theatre students and faculty at the CBC Theatre in Pasco Washington. Showings will be on August 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21 at 7:30pm and August 15 and 22 at 2:00pm. Tickets cost $17 for adults and $15 for students and seniors; these can be purchased at Shelby’s Floral in Kennewick, Adventure Underground Bookstore in Richland, The CBC Performing Arts Office on the Pasco Campus, and at the door. First Annual Painted Chairs Contest and Live Auction in Kennewick

The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership will be hosting the first ever annual Painted Chair contest in the Tri Cities on July 19. Chairs may range in style, it could be a bench, kitchen chair, lawn chair, or any other sort of seat. Each contestant must also have a vote box which needs to be decorated and have a slot at the top for vote slips to slide through. Contestants must provide their own chair, decorations, and vote box.
