Tri Cities WA: 13th Strongest Economy
The Tri Cities WA was recently ranked as the 13th strongest metropolitan economy. A recent report put out by Policom Corp studied 366 metropolitan areas and ranks them based on 23 distinctive economic factors over a 20 year time frame. These 23 factors include earnings, jobs, and wages in the areas of retail, farm jobs, non-farm jobs. Since 2009 the Tri Cities has been making a steady climb towards their present position of 13. In 2009 the Tri Cities was ranked 125th, in 2010 their ranking was 70th, and in 2011, 35th. The Tri Cities current placing has been accredited to having a very strong economy due to its ability to weather the recent recession.

It's that time of year again, time to head out to the Country Mercantile for their annual Harvest Festival. The festival features rides, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, mazes, and a variety of fun for the whole family.

Admission is $6.50 per person; children under the age of 2 are free. Admission covers a ride out to the pumpkin patch, the corn maze, straw-bale maze and pyramids as well as the petting zoo; admission does not include rides. Pumpkins are sold separately. The cost for pumpkins are as follows: Orange Pumpkins - $0.24/lb; Red and White Pumpkins - $0.59/lb; corn stalks - $5.95 each; and bales of straw - $5.95 each.

Hydroplane Race Kick-Off Party
On July 29, come on out to Clover Island Inn for an evening of fun and gear up for the 46th Annual Columbia Cup Hydroplane Races, Colorblind will be playing. Things will kick off at 7:00pm and go until about 11:00pm. The cost is $5 per person, only those over the age of 21 will be admitted.

Movies in the Park by Smoovies in Richland Washington
If you are looking for some fun, free things to do with the kids this Summer check out Smoovies’ Free Outdoor Movie in the Park. On selected Fridays and Saturdays at John Dam Plaza and Columbia Park, there will be free family friendly movies. The evening begins at about 7:00 with a performance by a local, pre selected, family friendly entertainer and kids can enjoy a bounce house and a sing and dance time with TJ the Tiger; the movie will begin at sundown. The Carson Kolzig Foundation will be having their second annual Responding to Autism Event this Friday, April 15 at the Three Rivers Convention Center from 10:00am to 4:00pm. On April 16, come out and run in support of local Autism programs around the Tri Cities Washington area at the Responding to Autism Fun Run. All the proceeds raised at the run will go towards providing resources for families affected by autism; resources such as low cost/free autism screenings.

The Responding to Autism Fun Run will include a 1 mile family friendly, 5K and a 10K. The cost is $20 for the 5K or the 10K; price includes a t-shirt.
