There will be a seven hour tour at the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center in Richland on Saturday, August 30 from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon that will enlighten participants and give them an idea of what it takes to get their food on the table.

Details of the Event
Admission fee is $60.00 per person with beverages, lunch, tour guide, and bus included. Get a chance to visit to various farms and talk to the farmers that grow apples, corn, beans, onions, and wheat. Confirmation is required before August 22.

Fourth Friday LIGO Hanford Observatory Tours, Richland WaEverybody is welcome to join the public drop-in tours being offered by LIGO Hanford Observatory every fourth Friday of the month. The tours last about two hours, from 3 to 5PM. This month, the fourth Friday tour will fall on April 25.

Tour Inclusions
As most probably know, LIGO is a facility where everyone can observe gravitational waves of cosmic origin. According to LIGO’s website, LIGO “searches for gravitational waves created in the supernova collapse of stellar cores to form neutron stars or black holes, the collisions and coalescences of neutron stars or black holes, the wobbly rotation of neutron stars with deformed crusts and the remnants of gravitational radiation created by the birth of the universe.”

The public tour gives tourists a chance to see one of two gravitational wave observatories in the United States up close and personal. Your LIGO host and tour guide will provide a presentation detailing LIGO’s research and will conduct a walking tour of the Observatory. The tour will also include a visit to the control room. LIGO Hanford Observatory Fourth-Friday Tours in Richland, WaEvery fourth Friday of the month, the LIGO Hanford Observatory in Richland offers public drop-in tours, which gives people a chance to observe and take an excellent look at their facility.

Tour Groups
You can actually form your own tour group of 15 participants and get in touch with LIGO to find out how your group can schedule a private tour, either during weekdays or in the evening.

LIGO provides regular tours for community groups, astronomy clubs, professional societies, and others. Tours normally last about two hours only, so you won’t get bored at all.

Middle school age students (and above) are encouraged to take advantage of the tours, but both young and old are welcome to tour the facility.
