Don’t forget to reserve the second Saturday of each month for the public observatory tours at LIGO Hanford. All ages are welcome, so it’s something the whole family can enjoy during weekends.
Inclusions of the Tour
The public tour gives tourists a chance to see one of two gravitational wave observatories in the United States up close and personal. Your LIGO host and tour guide will provide a presentation detailing LIGO’s research and will conduct a walking tour of the Observatory. The tour will also include a visit to the control room. Hence, everyone is advised to wear comfortable shoes. LIGO’s facilities are wheelchair accessible, so nobody gets left behind.
As mentioned earlier, this tour happens every second Saturday of each month, from 1:30PM to 3:30PM. Admission is free, but if you want to arrange for group tours, you might want to call (509) 372-8181. For more information, please do visit LIGO Observatory’s website.
