Every fourth Friday of the month, the LIGO Hanford Observatory in Richland offers public drop-in tours, which gives people a chance to observe and take an excellent look at their facility.
Tour Groups
You can actually form your own tour group of 15 participants and get in touch with LIGO to find out how your group can schedule a private tour, either during weekdays or in the evening.
LIGO provides regular tours for community groups, astronomy clubs, professional societies, and others. Tours normally last about two hours only, so you won’t get bored at all.
Middle school age students (and above) are encouraged to take advantage of the tours, but both young and old are welcome to tour the facility.
Tour Schedule
Schedule for drop-in tours is every fourth Friday of the month from 3-5PM. For this month, the date is set for March 28.
For more information, visit the LIGO website or call (509) 375-8181.
