About Ridge View Elementary School
Ridge View Elementary School is classified as a Primary School, offering Kindergarten to Fifth Grade, and operated by the Kennewick School District education agency. It is in Kennewick, the largest city in Benton County. The student population of Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, African American, and Indian numbers is about 480. With 24 teachers, it makes up the student-teacher ratio of 20 students for every teacher.

Situated in ten acres of land, the school opened 13 years ago, in 1993. And after only four years of operation in 1997, Ridge View Elementary School attained the highest percentages in Mathematics, Reading, Writing, and Listening in the Washington Assessment of Student Learning in the whole district. It tests student skills in a subject, applying this skill to real-life situations, and analytical skills. The school’s vision is to make Ridge View Elementary School a challenging place for the students and to focus on academic achievement.

To better prepare the students for the world of tomorrow, technology has been integrated into the Kennewick School District curriculum. There are more than one hundred computers, with Internet access, in the school. Every classroom is equipped with a DVD. Cameras and projectors are also available. CIRCLE or the Curriculum and Instruction Renewal Cycle for Learning Excellence is used to understand curriculum and materials. Parents and the school staff create a curriculum that they think is best to teach the EARL to be able to meet the district and the state standards. The Core Knowledge curriculum is also adopted in Ridge View in order for the students to have a solid curriculum to help in forming a strong foundation of knowledge per grade level. To meet the district goal of 90% student readers on grade level by the end of the Third Grade, struggling readers are given special attention. Parents are also encouraged to read to their children for at least 20 minutes a day, every day.

After School Programs
After school, the facilities are used for various activities. During winter, the gymnasium is used by Kennewick for basketball practice. Community activities in the evenings are being held here. A special program, called the Language Enrichment program, is offered for students who speak English as their second language. The Ridge View staff is committed to teaching the students the value of school and helping them achieve their goals by creating lifelong learning skills.
