Christ the King Sausage Fest2023 Sausage Fest at Christ the King School in Richland Washington

For decades Christ the King School has held Sausage Fest, the primary fundraising event for each school year. This annual community event hosts nearly 25,000-30,000 people a year making it the third largest event in Tri Cities Washington. Sausage Fest takes place every year during the third full weekend of September, this year it is September 15-16; the weekend begins Friday night at 5:00 pm and goes through midnight then starts back up on Saturday at 11:00 am and goes until midnight..

Admission is free and includes plenty of games for kids of all ages along with food booths featuring over 30 different foods, an indoor and outdoor Biergarten, live music, arts & crafts, Granny’s Attic, Farmer’s Market, and middle and high school dances. Sausage Fest has a large outdoor stage every year showcasing local talent that can be enjoyed by all ages. Check out the schedule of events if you are interested in what will be going on and when.

Christ the King is always looking for volunteers to help make Sausage Fest a success. When the event was first started it only needed a couple of dozen volunteers to make things work, now over 2000 people were required. If you are willing and able to work there is a worker signup sheet that can be completed online, brought into the church office, or emailed to Christ the King.

Sausage fest sounds like a fun event.

I have volunteered to help with sausage fest for at least tenyears. The last five or so have been spent helping in the kitchen. Always a "hoot". One constructive comment- 2010 brought us the most humungus spuds that I've seen in a LONG time. They took forever to cook and the assocated trays were very heavy to insert / retreive from the oven. We got several loads back with complaints that the spuds were not cooked enough, and we simply could not keep up with the requests. PLEASE accept smaller spuds for next year. Also, please consider buying some relatively long, thicker nails to help speed the cooking process. You skewer each spud with a nail in each end. the nails conduct heat right to the center of the spud and it cooks faster and evenly. Really works- the wife and I use this trick when we do spuds at home. Hope this helps, and I look forward to working next year's fest! Kurt Lewis.
