A research made in 2003 revealed that heart disease was, by far, the leading cause of death in women. In fact, the dreaded disease killed more women than men. It is for this reason that the American Heart Association launched Go Red for Women, an advocacy to save lives and raise awareness on this serious issue. They have since symbolized their battle against heart disease in women with the red dress.
National Wear Red Day®
They have made the first Friday of February as their National Wear Red Day® in their efforts to draw everyone’s attention to this silent killer of women. On this day, everyone is encouraged to wear red, know their cardiovascular risk, and take action to live longer, healthier lives.
Bazaar and Silent Auction
In line with this, Just B*Cause Events, in cooperation with the American Heart Association invites you to their third annual “Go Red Bazaar”. The bazaar is in support of Go Red for Women. Now is the perfect time to shop for your Valentine, as there would be over 40 arts and crafts booths during the bazaar. Come in your most creative or craziest red outfit for a chance to win door prizes and an entry to the photo contest.
The bazaar and silent auction will be held at the Red Lion Hanford House in Richland on February 8, 2014 from 10AM to 2PM. For inquiries or donations, visit Go Red for Women’s website.
