Tickets for the Mid Columbia Ballet’s most popular performance, The Nutcracker will be going on sale November 1! There will be several showings in December. Showings will be December 10 at 7:00pm, December 11 at 2:00pm and again at 7:00pm, and December 12 at 2:00pm. All performances take place at the Richland High School Auditorium in Richland Washington. To buy tickets, visit the Mid Columbia Ballet website or call 509.946.5417 after November 1. Tickets cost $22 for adults, $17 for students and seniors, and $12 for children 12 and under.
The Nutcracker was originally written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in the late 1800s adapted from E. T. A. Hoffman’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The first performance was staged by Merius Petipa in December 1892. Originally the story was much longer than Tchaikovsky’s play with a much more in depth plot but Tchaikovsky simplified it for the viewers. Since the 1960s The Nutcracker has stolen the hearts of many in the Western countries and become a much anticipated part of the Christmas season.
