Climate change is defined as “the change in global climate patterns apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards, attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.”
Effects of Climate Change
This change has led to the emergence of large-scale environmental hazards that affect human health. Extreme weather conditions (think Hurricanes Sandy, Katrina, and Typhoon Haiyan), the continuous weakening or depletion of the ozone layer, the loss of biodiversity, stresses to food-producing systems, and even the spread of infectious diseases all over the world are all effects of climate change.
Climate change is such a wide scale problem. Even if there are people who doubt the severity of the impact of climate change to our planet and people who simply believe that it isn’t a problem at all, it is important to find ways to solve it.
Carbon Nation – A Documentary Film about Climate Change
On Saturday, February 8, the Richland Public Library will present Carbon Nation. This documentary movie is about climate change solutions. This compelling film will illustrate how solutions to climate change can also address other social, economic, and national security issues.
