I'm forever trying to keep my inbox squared away. Julian puts together 9 steps to a more productive email system here. His second rule, is my favorite: Set up rules to sort out incoming emails Apart from spam, there's bacn. This is a new term for e-mail you want, but not right now and describes the middle class of e-mail, such as notifications of new followers on Twitter or the Google alert for your name. I set up some rules in Mail.app that push those e-mails right out of my Inbox into a special "Bacn" folder "” so I can quickly skim through them if I've got some spare time and don't know what to do. Bacn is out of the way.

I read an interesting article today about the housing market and consumer confidence here. The article writes,

The missing ingredient today in the housing market, the economy and the financial system is trust.

  • Banks won’t lend to each other because each thinks the other is going under.
  • Bank won’t lend to consumers because they don’t think they can pay the loan back.
  • Consumers don’t trust the government because just 6 months ago they pronounced that the economy has strong fundamentals.
  • Buyers don’t trust the local housing market because they think it is going to collapse.
  • No one trusts anyone.

I remember tweeting (Twitter for non-Twitter users) back and forth about the comparison of Michelle Obama's wardrobe cost and Sarah Palin's wardrobe cost, and the media's bias towards both. I wonder if I'm the only one thinking about that on Inauguration Day.
