This coming Saturday, October 17 as part of the Port of Kennewick 100th Anniversary celebration everyone  is  invited to join a 2-hour free guided walking tour around the past residences and businesses in the historic downtown Kennewick area.

About the Event
The Walk Historic Kennewick will be focusing on the origins and development of Kennewick from a tiny agricultural community and its distinctive buildings. The Port of Kennewick Commissioner and a downtown resident Mr. Tom Moak will describe the progress of downtown Kennewick. 

So if you have ever wondered about the JC Penney sign on a prominent corner or wanted to know about the earliest buildings existing and what they used to house, this is your tour! Who knows what or whom you will see?

Walk Historic Kennewick First United Methodist Church Kennewick, WashingtonThis year the Port of Kennewick is celebrating its 100th Anniversary and on Saturday, August 15 they are inviting everyone to join on a FREE guided walking tour past residences and businesses in historic downtown Kennewick. Tours will take about two hours from 10:00 in the morning until 12:00 noon and are about one mile in length. ‘Tis the season to be giving! This afternoon, December 4 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Historic Downtown Kennewick will be holding Warm Hands, Warm Heart. At 3:00pm Santa will make a grand entrance into Flag Plaza in Kennewick Washington, Santa will be riding in style as he enters in on a vintage fire truck. After his grand entrance, Santa will be available for pictures with a small donation to Pet over Population. Throughout the afternoon several groups and individuals will provide music, they are: Miss Tri Cities, Finley 8th grade girls, and The Merrie Greenwood Players.

Grape Crush Rush Fun Run
On September 25, the 3 Rivers Road Runners will be having their annual Grape Crush Rush in Kennewick Washington. This annual run will take place in Historic Downtown Kennewick and features a one mile and a 5K event. Both the 5K and one mile events will begin at 8:30am at Clock Plaza. The cost to register for the event is $9.00 after September 18. There are two ways in which to register, one way is to go online or you can register on the day of the event between 7:30 and 8:15am at Clock Plaza. Next Saturday, September 25 the East Benton County Historical Society is presenting a Historic Homes tour. The tour, Kennewick through the Ages, will take place in Historic Downtown Kennewick and will feature 6 of the city’s finest homes. You will be able to tour six homes from the first 50 years of the 20th century as well as the East Benton County Museum. The tour will begin at 10:00am and go until 5:00pm.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $15 in advance at the East Benton County Museum or JD’s Time Center in Kennewick Washington; the Bookwork in Richland Washington; or the Franklin County Museum in Pasco Washington. The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership will be hosting the first ever annual Painted Chair contest in the Tri Cities on July 19. Chairs may range in style, it could be a bench, kitchen chair, lawn chair, or any other sort of seat. Each contestant must also have a vote box which needs to be decorated and have a slot at the top for vote slips to slide through. Contestants must provide their own chair, decorations, and vote box. Participants in the Painted Chair contest must fill out an entry form and pay $10. Chairs will displayed at Flag Plaza on the corner of Kennewick Avenue and Auburn Street in Kennewick Washington.
