Kennewick's Science Is Fun For Children | Let's Get ElectricKennewick's Science Is Fun For Children | Let's Get Electric is Monday, December 30, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Ages 8-11, $14 City Residents or $21.  If your child is getting cabin fever this winter break and you want them to partake in a fun and educational activity, look no further! Children will have fun exploring electricity and technology in this hands-on science class that will cover the principals of magnetism and motors. Students will create an electromagnet, identify motor parts and use common tools to dismantle an electric motor.  All materials and tools are provided. Activity presenter is Owen Kramer a retired Project Controls Engineer and current substitute teacher for the Kennewick School District.

Tri Cities Wa Lighted Boat ParadeTri Cities Wa Lighted Boat Parade on the Columbia River this weekend December 4th and 5th from 6:00 to 9:00 in the evening.  Bring your warm clothes and (hopefully) stand next to a warm fire or friend and enjoy the parade.  We have a home on the Columbia River and the Lighted Boat Parade has been a holiday highlight for us as a family. 

Event Route Details

Christmas Lighted Boat Parade will travel up river on the Kennewick side along Columbia Park. At around 7:30 in the evening they will turn around at the far end of Howard Amon Park in Richland and travel back down river on the same course. They will arrive back at Clover Island and make an additional loop for everyone on the island before heading back into the Clover Island Marina at around 9:00…

This is an introductory class for children interested in engineering, math, and wood crafting skills. Your kids will get to create a fun toy called a 'Clacker.'  A Clacker is a generational and traditional New Year's Eve noisemaker guaranteed to generate a lot of racket to bring in the year 2014. Under careful supervision, students will use a hand drill, Japanese saw, and a backsaw to create the Clacker from wooden parts provided. Movies in the Park by Smoovies in Richland Washington
If you are looking for some fun, free things to do with the kids this Summer check out Smoovies’ Free Outdoor Movie in the Park. On selected Fridays and Saturdays at John Dam Plaza and Columbia Park, there will be free family friendly movies. The evening begins at about 7:00 with a performance by a local, pre selected, family friendly entertainer and kids can enjoy a bounce house and a sing and dance time with TJ the Tiger; the movie will begin at sundown.
