This Thursday, January 20 at 7:00pm, Professor David Bullock will present “A Strike to the Heart: Historical Memory and Roslyn’s Western Miners Union” at the Kennewick Washington branch of the Mid Columbia Library.

Professor David Bullock will tell the story of the early miners in Central Washington who dedicated their time to creating a new and independent union. The miners hard work had a huge impact on coal operators, the United Mine Workers, racial and ethnic tensions, communist influences, neighborhood infighting, and finances.

The Multicultural Club at Washington State University Tri Cities presents the 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. event. The event, which will occur January 14, features an inter-generational panel at 6:30pm to discuss civil rights accomplishments and current challenges. Panelists will include Dr. Novella N. Bridges, a senior research chemist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; Zixu Ha, the ASWSU Tri Cities President; and Jack Hamann, author of On American Soil: How Justice Became a Casualty of WWII. The Tri City Americans and the Washington State Potato Foundation are joining together for this game to recognize agriculture. The Red Cross depends on the kind generosity of healthy members in the community to give blood each and every day. The life span of cells is not long, platelets only last up to 5 days and red blood cells last up to 42 days.
