Stroll down the Sunnyside streets this Saturday, July 4 at exactly 10:00 in the morning with a 5K run at the Jerry Taylor Veterans Memorial Plaza, 9th Street and Edison Avenue, Sunnyside in Washington.
Fallen Heroes Walk/Run
The inaugural of the Fallen Heroes will start with a 21 gun salute. American flags will be placed along the entire 3.6 mile route. Each step of the walk/run will remind participants about the sacrifices made by soldiers fighting for the country. The Fallen Heroes 5K is open to all runners, walkers and even strollers.
Each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt and will have the chance to write the name of the particular fallen soldier they wish to honor, at the back of the shirt. While walking/running the streets of Sunnyside, the residents along the route are urged to cheer on the 5K participants. Along the way also is a water stop for participants and plans call for timers to be in place. At the end of the event, food will be available. Registration is required.
Registration: $60 per person Children- free
Registrants will receive a t-shirt and proceeds of the event will go to Jerry Taylor Veterans Memorial Plaza.
