Pasco and the rest of the Tri Cities were mainly a fur trader camp but they really started to grow in size when the Hanford project was started in the 1940's. Due to Pasco's rapid growth, Franklin County is the 18th fastest growing county in the United States. Quick and Easy Freeway Access West Pasco is centrally located in the tri-cities with easy access to freeways.  There are good entertainment and food locations close by including road 68 and Court Street. West Pasco also has many recreational activities located nearby. There is the vast Columbia River to go swimming and boating, there are plenty of parks to play in, there is the TRAC off road 68 that holds many events, In the summer the local Class A team, the Tri-Cities Dust Devils plays at Gesa Stadium, and there are many other local activities to attend. West Pasco, Still Growing Just recently, road 68 has boomed in growth and has become the new home to many new businesses including wal-mart, yokes, Lowes, Fairchild Cinemas, and many other stores including numerous fast food restaurants. And of course, the fine schools... There are many different schools located in West Pasco, Washington including Columbia Basin College which was founded in 1955 and now has a student body of almost 7000 students. There is also the newly built Chiawana High School that opened fall of 2009 located on Argent.
