Washington state is the second largest wine producing state in the United States, second only to California. Washington's grape production did well last year and is predicted to do just as well this year, last year they did extremely well in wine production as well as in juice production. According to the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers the most popular type of wine has been Chardonnay. The demand for Chardonnay is diminishing while the demand for Reisling is increasing. John Bookwalter, owner of J Bookwalter Winery, isn't going to strike out the grapes. According to Bookwalter, "America's love affair with Chardonnay isn't over yet." He also believes that the this years grape crop is increasing but they will most likely level out in the near future.
