The Port of Benton has planned for numerous construction projects on the agenda for 2010. Each of the planned projects will be in Richland, Benton City, Prosser, or Crow Butte Park. The projects on the agenda for 2010 will help economic development like tourism related business. The Port of Benton’s agenda for 2010 will include:

Airplane

Richland Airport
This spring $1.2 million will go towards rebuilding the intersection of two runways at the airport. The Richland Airport is pleased to welcome Zero Gravity, a plane building company. The rebuilding of the runway intersection is needed with the addition of Zero Gravity. Plans for the airport will also include remodeling and expanding the old watchtower-turned-restaurant to include an additional 600 sq. feet.

Prosser Airport
Last year Prosser Airport began moving their runway 1,000 feet to the east because of the increased traffic on the road it runs along. This year the relocation of the runway will be completed.

Wine Glass and Bottle

Prosser Wine and Food Park
The Wine and Food Park in Prosser will be adding a $1.5 million gasification plant that will be used to turn biomass into steam and power. To get the funding for the project the Port of Benton joined with the Benton PUD.

Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center
The Port of Benton will partner with Prosser and Desert Wind Winery to increase street access to the center.

Prosser Vintner’s Village
The Port has purchased 17-acres by Prosser Vintner’s Village, infrastructure construction will begin later this year. Proposals are being accepted to turn Seven Gables into a bed & breakfast or a restaurant.

Richland Innovation Center
First Street at the north end of the center will be reconstructed to enhance the Port’s properties.

Technology and Business Center
The US Triton coning tower has been set in concrete at the north end of this area, all that needs to be done now is finish the sail that will be welded on and landscaping, both will be finished this year. When all is finished there will also be an educational information display.

Manufacturing Mall
The manufacturing mall will soon have an array of Stirling solar dishes.

Benton City
Last year the Port purchased two retail storefronts and are now accepting applications for tourism related business. This year they have purchased the old Benton City Fore House and remodeling will start soon.

Crow Butte Park
Plans for the park include renovating and remodeling the day-use restrooms.

Yeah Port of Benton gonna change after 2010. I like almost every plan but still out those I love to see the big change in Technology and Business Center. And that's gonna change economic condition too.
