Pasco Wa Growth 18 in the Nation

The 2009 US Census Bureau figures are out and according to them; Franklin County is ranking number 18 as the fastest growing county in the nation. Back when the last census was taken, Franklin County had 49,602 residents, currently there are 77,355 residents; up 56% from 2000. In the state of Washington, Franklin County is the only county to make the census’ top 100 list. The reason for all this growth is all the building happening around Rd 68 off of I-182. There used to only be soccer fields out in that area, but then between 2003-2006 the housing market boomed with nearly 4,000 permits for single-family homes issued in those years. This boom in growth caused some quick economic growth and change in the area. There was also an increase in students to the schools in Pasco causing the district to add more schools like a second high school, another middle school, and two additional elementary schools.
