New home sales are not doing too well nationwide but in Tri Cities Washington things are continuing to look up. During the month of September the amount of new homes sold in the Tri Cities was 80, an 8 percent increase from the previous month’s new homes sold. When compared to the new home sales throughout the nation which only rose 6.6 percent up from the 297,000 new homes sold in August, the Tri Cities is doing well. The average price of these new homes nationwide during the month of September was $257,500 a little higher than the Tri Cities average sale price of $252, 034.
Not only is the Tri Cities doing well in new homes sold from month to month, but they are also being recognized nationally on several “Top 10” lists. Just recently the Tri Cities was ranked number 5 for best performing metro areas that are creating and sustaining jobs. Within the past year the Tri Cities has been listed on more than five “Best places to…” lists such as best places to raise a family, best places to begin a second career, along with several other such lists.

The Tri Cities Washington area is located in Southeastern Washington along the confluences of the Yakima, Snake and Columbia Rivers. This mid-sized metropolitan area boasts of nearly 300 days of sunshine a year, perfect for many of the outdoor recreational opportunities available to Tri Cities’ residents who are so inclined. The Tri Cities is home to the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. Built during World War II Hanford was used to help create the first atomic bomb. Now Hanford is a source of employment for many Tri City residents as the focus of the site has changed from plutonium production to environmental clean up and protection.
