There are a number of ways you could use to find your ideal home. The two most common would be through the use of the internet and with the help of an expert real estate agent. Browsing through the web has various benefits and you could do it in the comfort of your own home. Most listings on the web contain pictures, videos and virtual tours, which help narrow down the selection process and the ease of viewing the properties you would probably like. Although searching through the web is convenient, most properties are sold through a real estate agent. Expert agents can provide you a list of available properties shown publicly on the market as well as confidential properties. Many expert agents receive notice of a property for sale before it is actually released to the market. Another way would be looking through real estate advertising in newspapers and magazines. If you want to get an edge on properties that are just about to come out on the market, you could drive around a desired neighborhood and interview some residents that may by chance know some information, or you may also visit open houses, friends, family and business associates for any leads on properties about to go on sale.  Some properties may be still under process of being liquidated, either via a probate court or execution of a will. Getting in touch with an estate or probate attorney is an excellent source for finding those special homes before they hit the market. There are also available properties on sale but are not advertised through MLS or the internet, rather they are exclusively made accessible to research lenders, mortgage banks or brokers, or real-estate auction and foreclosure specialists.
