City of Kennewick Focusing on Ensuring a Vibrant Future

The City of Kennewick is working on ensuring a vibrant future for the city by focusing on infrastructure improvements, economic development, partnerships and quality of life. These building blocks for the city will create a great place to live, work, and play.

City of Kennewick Infrastructure
Jobs are one of the major aspects when creating a good infrastructure in a city, but the city itself does not create these jobs. The city does, however create a good infrastructure that businesses need. This past year the City of Kennewick several projects such as, the Hansen park playground and restrooms and the final phase of the water treatment plant upgrade, among other projects. These improvements that have been made and will be made will provide the capacity for growth in years to come.

Kennewick's Economic Development
Last year the City of Kennewick established that the Southridge area would be the best recipient of future infrastructure needs. Southridge was chosen for the focus of future infrastructure needs because 60% of Kennewick’s future is forecasted to grow in the Southridge area. The city has secured $12.5 million in funding for the Southridge expansion and will happen without taxes being raised. Projects will largely focus on transportation improvements which will help Kennewick General Hospital when they build their Southridge facility.

Partnerships
The City of Kennewick has made many partnerships that are crucial for the successful expansion of the Southridge area. Tri City area fire departments helped to plan what will be needed, and coordinate routes so that aid will arrive quickly when needed. The city also partnered with the Port of Kennewick on the walking path, public plaza, and public art on Clover Island.

Kennewick Wa Quality of Life
Kennewick recently added a new building to join the Three Rivers Convention Center and the Toyota Center. The Windermere Theater is a great addition that will allow for a great experience of patrons who love the arts.

City of Kennewick 2000-2009
Kennewick has made many significant changes and improvement over the past ten years to ensure a vibrant future. Some of these changes include: Three Rivers Convention Center opened, Downtown revitalization progress, Columbia Park enhancements, among other additions.

Kennewick Washington has come a long way in the past ten years and will go even farther in the next decade.
