In the last year the Tri Cities has been the only community to see job growth. According to Dean Schau, regional labor economist, the Tri Cities have gained 1,300 jobs since last July. The same can't be said for those in the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett region, they lost 68,800 nonfarm jobs over the past year. Overall in the state of Washington unemployment has dropped one-tenth of a percent between June and July with the help of an additional 4,000 nonfarm jobs. According to these numbers Karen Lee, employment securities commissioner believes the recession is slowing down.
