Tri Cities Employment Up

Garner Economics, a consulting firm based in Atlanta, recently published a report that shows between the months of January and June of 2009 that the Tri Cities was one of nine metro areas showing positive job growth. The report also ranked the Tri Cities first in the nation in job growth throughout 2009. Every month last year the Tri Cities showed positive job growth, a regional economist stated that throughout the year there were nearly 2,300 jobs added, due to the stimulus funding. Stimulus money brought into the Tri Cities has saved about 280 jobs and created room for the equivalent of nearly 1,500 full time hobs.
