Sports and Recreation in Tri Cities Washington
The Tri-Cities area of Washington includes Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland. Located by three different rivers, Columbia, Snake, and Yakima, the area provides many recreational opportunities to its residents, both on land and in the water. As each city offers public boat launches, boating and fishing activities are quite popular and with the size of the rivers, you never have to worry about sharing space.
All three communities offer many different recreational opportunities for their residents. The Pasco Recreation Services offers several different things at their facility, such as a gift shop, TV room, crafts room, fitness center, library and puzzle room, pool tables, and a multi-purpose area for parties and other events. They offer classes for both children and adults, including volleyball, softball, and kayaking tours.
Richland Recreation is just as busy as Pasco and offers many different activities and classes for its residents, as well. From basketball to Pilates and wellness classes to gardening activities, the residents of Richland will never be bored unless they choose to be. Richland prides themselves in offering a wide variety of activities and classes and is constantly adding more to their list.
Like both Pasco and Richland, Kennewick gives many opportunities for its residents to participate in activities and classes put on by the Recreation Department. With pre-school classes for the young ones and a variety of activities, such as kayaking and canoeing and fitness classes, for young people and adults, the Recreation Department is busy.
The Tri-Cities area is home to three different professional sports teams. Tri-Cities Fever are the defending National Football League champion, while the Tri-Cities Americans are of the Western Hockey League. The Tri-Cities Dust Devils, which are an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies class A Northwest League Baseball short-season class play in Pasco. Kennewick is home to the Toyota Center where both the Fever and Americans play.
Home to several golf courses and located in the desert climate, you’ll find golf being played in the Tri-Cities area year round. You’ll also find the Sacajawea Heritage Trail, a 22-mile long trail that runs through all three of the cities is quite popular for hiking year round, as well.
The fact is the Tri-Cities area is one that is amazingly active and loyal to their home teams. From basketball and baseball to hockey and football, residents in this area are never lacking for something to do. You’ll also find that in the Tri-Cities area is increasingly popular in wine making and many wineries located in the area offer tours and tasting events.
