Meet the Three Cities of Tri Cities
The first and largest of the three cities is Kennewick. Historically it was the home for the Chemnapum Indians (their name meaning “Winter Haven”). The second largest city is Pasco. This is home to Sacajawea State Park which was where camp had been set up for several days by the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1805. It is also part of the million acre Columbia Basin Irrigation project.
Richland, the smallest of the three cities, is based around science and technology. Don’t miss the driving tour of the alphabet houses that were set up during WWII. Take time from your eventful day to enjoy the Columbia River Exhibition of History, Science and Technology. Come and learn what has made this community so technologically rich.
West Richland is a growing city that is attracting new businesses all the time. Don’t miss West Richland’s Flat Top Park, it is the main park where many diverse family events take place all throughout the year.
