Arts and Crafts can be a rewarding part of anyone’s life, and it is no different for the over-50 set at the Kennewick senior center. Painting techniques can be learned through the Watercolor and Acrylic Painting Class or in Ede J’s Oil Painting class. Each Wednesday and Friday, there are woodcarving lessons available, and there are also clay sculpting, quilting, and sewing classes.

One of the senior center’s most popular classes is the AARP Driver Safety Course, led by Don Darsow. The class educates seniors about the changes that take place as they get older, and how these changes affect their driving habits. Participants take part in a self-evaluation, learn about their responsibilities as drivers, and receive a certificate of completion, which is often accepted by insurance providers for discounts.

Access to Senior Resources
The senior center also gives seniors access to important resources, such as the AARP, Aging and Long Term Care, Adult Day Services, Benton Franklin Health District, and more. Whether seniors have housing concerns or need assistance with food resources, the center can assist in finding solutions to problems common among seniors.

Among the other activities available at the Kennewick senior center are pinochle and bridge games, pancake breakfasts, billiards, dance events, seminars – even performances by the Kettlescrapers Singing Group.
