The community of Hansen Park has an interesting history and future. Back in the 1950s the place where the community of Hansen Park is currently located was farmland purchased by Wilburt Hansen who owned Hansen Fruit and the 778 acres of land accompanying it. After 
awhile the land and farm came to be in the hands of Hansen’s children, Gary Hansen and Joanne Hansen-Pratt. In 2000 Hansen’s children had a vision of a community that was all inclusive. This community would include multi-family complexes, single family homes, a 26-acre park, an LDS church, a 15 acre commercial retail center, town homes, man-made lake, walking trails, and an office complex. This community is not projected to be complete for another 15 years.
Currently the first phase of the development is well under way with several multi-family complexes, over 250 single family homes, an LDS church, and a 26 acre park in honor of the late Wilburt Hansen. Town homes are in the process of being built targeting senior citizens with an assisted living residence close by.
Hansen Park is centrally located and close to the Tri Cities’ main shopping area which has a mall, Target, Lowes, Costco, Office Depot, and many other stores. Along with being close to shopping stores there are also many restaurants to suit a variety of tastes and cravings. For those interested in recreational activities there are the many water sports the Columbia River has to offer as well as miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails all over the Tri Cities. During the winter months there are the mountains on either side of the Tri Cities for those interested in snow sports.
