For those of you who have enrolled your elementary students in any of the Summer Science Camps at WSU Tri Cities check this out! For the first time ever WSU Tri Cities will be offering science camps for Middle School students! These week long day camps offer students a chance to engage in safe, fun and creative activities as well as the chance to build inventions. Camps are held Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30 at the WSU Tri Cities camus in Richland Washington. Space is limited, so get registered quickly!

Motions, Models and Machines: During the week of July 11-15, your 6th-8th grade child will enjoy learning about physical science concepts such as matter, energy and their interactions. All students will enjoy the hands on activity of building any of 11 different K’Nex roller coaster designs using various levers, axels, wheels, transmission systems, gear systems, and more.

Engineering Marvels: During the week of July 18-22, your 6th-8th grade child will enjoy learning principles of design and engineering as they build various models using K’Nex and other materials. Students will participate in the design process as they design and build a roller coaster using K’Nex.

Spark Imagination with Science Solutions: During the week of July 25-29, your 6th-8th grade child will enjoy discovering and uncovering clues and puzzles to get to the source of many different scientific mysteries and innovations. Students will love learning about different innovative survival traits of insects.

Discover the Super Powers of Science: During the week of August 1-5, your 6th-8th grade child will enjoy learning about buoyancy and engineering as they explore the ocean.  Then they will take a peek at the science behind of super powers and create launching devices using simple devices. Frictions and physics will be put to practice in the ultimate land sled and finally in an extreme obstacle course.

Explore Physics and Forensics: During the week of August 8-12, your 6th-8th grade child will enjoy learning about Newton’s Law of physics as they investigate the delivery of secret papers over land, sea, air and outer space. Students will become a detective during the week as they dig through the forensics of a crime scene and try to solve the mystery.
