Little ol’ Tri Cities Washington isn’t as quaint as those living here might think it is. Dating back to the early 1900s the Tri Cities has been recognized for many great accomplishments and earned a place on many different Top 10 or Top 20 lists around the nation.

The most recent accomplishment or Top 20 list that the Tri Cities has made its way on to is the American Cowboy Magazine’s Top 20 list of the best places in the west for a cowboy. The magazine looked at places where there are still beautiful pieces of untainted land, untouched by the metro areas. Places where cowboys could hang their hats with plenty of room to stretch out. The Tri Cities own Kennewick Washington made it onto the list as one of four cities in the Northwest. The article highlighted the areas annual events such as the Cowboy Gathering, Spring Barrel Tasting, Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo and the Tri Cities Wine Festival.

The Tri Cities have quite a few other accomplishments they are proud to claim. Back in 1926 a little plane, carrying two bags of US mail, left the Pasco Airport bound for Nevada; this flight ended up being the first air-mail delivery from Eastern Washington to anywhere outside of the state. That is pretty neat but there is a whole slew of other accomplishments made by the Tri Cities, check these out:

  • In 2010 the Tri Cities made the Top 10 list for Best Places to Raise a Family.
  • Kennewick’s 7 Eleven store has earned the title of Slurpee Capital of the World by accumulating more sales and Slurpee cups sold.
  • The Tri Cities earned a spot on US News and World Report’s Top 10 list of Places to Begin a Second Career.
