About the Event
Be a part of this special event and the return of Sandhill cranes to the Channeled Scablands. This three-day community event features a variety of activities, from wildlife tours and lectures on the area’s natural and cultural heritage to an art contest and children’s activities. The Othello Sandhill Crane Festival started in 1998. The Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service) sponsors this annual festival. Through the collective efforts of committee members, the festival is carefully planned, organized and conducted. The Sandhill Crane Festival Committee includes Grant Conservation District staff, Othello citizens, and residents from the neighboring Columbia Basin communities of Ephrata, Moses Lake, and Royal City.
