The Richland High School drama department has been hard at week working on their performance of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical, "Anything Goes". Anything Goes takes place on a cruise ship traveling from London to New York. Before the ship’s departure Billy Crocker manages to sneak aboard the ship in the hopes of winning the affections of heiress, Hope Harcourt. Unfortunately for Crocker, Hope is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Crocker finds help to woo Hope in the form nightclub singer, Reno Sweeney and mobster, Moonface Martin. “The madcap shenanigans that happen along the way, as well as the nostalgic music, should keep the audience captivated.”

Spring Gardening Day is a daylong event full of tips and advice for local gardeners put on by the WSU Extension Master Gardeners. This year the event will take place at Bethel Church in Richland Washington. To start things off keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Old will give a presentation on weeds. Following the keynote presentation will be a variety of workshops covering a range of gardening topics such as growing tomatoes, growing dahlias, home lawn care, establishing a backyard pond, basin rose care, garden tools that make gardening easier, pruning trees, square foot vegetable gardening and more!

Bethel Church in Richland Washington will be holding a worship conference and concert for anyone who is interested in coming. Refined Worship Conference and Concert will take place on February 26 at the main Richland Campus of Bethel Church. The Conference is from 1:00pm-5:00pm and costs $35 per person. There will be a large group session with Jeff Deyo and smaller workshops on various instruments and some for tech teams.

Following the Refined Worship Conference will be the Refined Worship Concert featuring Jeff Deyo. Doors will open at 5:30. There is no cost to attend, a free will offering will be taken to offset expenses, net proceeds will go to a local charity.

All you wine lovers out there, check out the newest winery in Richland Washington, Hamilton Cellars. Join owners Russ and Stacie Hamilton as they end their long journey with the opening of their tasting room today, January 5. The winery will feature 2006, 2007, and 2008 vintages. The focus of the winery will be Malbec, a red grape commonly grown in Bordeaux region of France. Not many wineries are using the grape for anything other than a blending grape. Winemaker for the Hamiltons, Charlie Hoppes thinks there could be a lot of interest in it. Along with the wines featuring Malbec, Hamilton Cellar’s will also release a merlot, cabernet sauvignon and a white blend of viognier and semillon.

For the past several days the Cathedral of Joy has been presenting their annual Living Nativity. There are only two more days left, so hurry up and buy your tickets for any of the remaining six performances. You don’t want to miss out on this wonderful performance illustrating the true meaning of Christmas. The live stage play features each of the traditional pieces to a Christmas such as roman soldiers on horseback, camels, angels, sheppards with their flock, and what Christmas pageant would be complete with the holy couple and baby Jesus. On Friday, December 17, from 7:00-9:00pm the REACH Interpretive Center will be hosting the monthly 509Art Salon. The 509Art Salon is a place for local artists and art enthusiasts to get together to meet one another, it is also a place for them to discuss and experience art in Eastern Washington. During the December Salon come and hear about the REACH and the 2011 Mardis Gras event, discuss how to incorporate the Arts community into the event, and learn about Richland’s desire to add art along the Columbia River.
