Spring Gardening Day is a daylong event full of tips and advice for local gardeners put on by the WSU Extension Master Gardeners. This year the event will take place at Bethel Church in Richland Washington. To start things off keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Old will give a presentation on weeds. Following the keynote presentation will be a variety of workshops covering a range of gardening topics such as growing tomatoes, growing dahlias, home lawn care, establishing a backyard pond, basin rose care, garden tools that make gardening easier, pruning trees, square foot vegetable gardening and more!

Bethel Church in Richland Washington will be holding a worship conference and concert for anyone who is interested in coming. Refined Worship Conference and Concert will take place on February 26 at the main Richland Campus of Bethel Church. The Conference is from 1:00pm-5:00pm and costs $35 per person. There will be a large group session with Jeff Deyo and smaller workshops on various instruments and some for tech teams.

Following the Refined Worship Conference will be the Refined Worship Concert featuring Jeff Deyo. Doors will open at 5:30. There is no cost to attend, a free will offering will be taken to offset expenses, net proceeds will go to a local charity.

All you wine lovers out there, check out the newest winery in Richland Washington, Hamilton Cellars. Join owners Russ and Stacie Hamilton as they end their long journey with the opening of their tasting room today, January 5. The winery will feature 2006, 2007, and 2008 vintages. The focus of the winery will be Malbec, a red grape commonly grown in Bordeaux region of France. Not many wineries are using the grape for anything other than a blending grape. Winemaker for the Hamiltons, Charlie Hoppes thinks there could be a lot of interest in it. Along with the wines featuring Malbec, Hamilton Cellar’s will also release a merlot, cabernet sauvignon and a white blend of viognier and semillon.

Start the year off right at Financial Peace University! Bethel Church in Richland Washington will be holding this 13 week course beginning Monday, January 24 from 6:30-9:30pm. The course costs $100 and covers the cost of all the course materials. Childcare will be available if you have children. The 509Art Salon is a place for local artists and art enthusiasts to get together to meet one another, it is also a place for them to discuss and experience art in Eastern Washington. During the December Salon come and hear about the REACH and the 2011 Mardis Gras event, discuss how to incorporate the Arts community into the event, and learn about Richland’s desire to add art along the Columbia River. The Benton Franklin chapter of the American Red Cross has scheduled several blood drives throughout the Tri Cities Washington. The Red Cross depends on the kind generosity of healthy members in the community to give blood each and every day. The life span of cells is not long, platelets only last up to 5 days and red blood cells last up to 42 days. Visit any of the scheduled blood drives or go to the Tri Cities Donor Center to give the gift of blood this holiday season.
