This coming Saturday, October 10 everyone is invited to Rising Above Cancer 4K Walk & Hike at Badger Mountain Trailhead Park, 525 Queensgate Drive in Richland, Washington. Please be there before 8:00 in the morning.

The Rising Above Cancer 4K Walk and Hike at Trailhead Park will start at the foot of Badger Mountain. Come celebrate, honor or remember a life touched by cancer by carrying a balloon to the top of Badger Mountain.

This is a free event. Donations will be accepted for balloons. Free Shirts to the first 500 people registered. Northwest Cancer Clinic will match each balloon donation with proceeds going to the non-profit Focus on Cancer for free mammograms.

On Saturday, October 24 kids of all ages are invited to the YMCA Trick or Treat event on Trailhead Park located at 541 Queensgate Drive in Richland, Washington at the base of Badger Mountain from 9:00 in the morning til noon.

Annually, the Saturday before Halloween YMCA has put on a fun, family Halloween event with their very own YMCA healthy twist on the holiday.  Families who join us for Trick-or-Treat on the Trail will enjoy a fun, family hike up Badger Mountain while dressed up in their favorite costumes!

Jet-Boat Geology Tour & Wildflower Hike Along White Bluffs Richland

Join geologist –author Bruce Bjornstad for a Columbia River Journey’s jet boat tour of the Hanford Reach on the Columbia River this Saturday, May 16. The tour will start at 8:00 in the morning till 4:00 in the afternoon.

The geographical and historical tour includes jet boat ride, lunch and beverages. Come and join Mr. Bjornstad on a Columbia River Journey’s jet boat tour of the Hanford Reach departing on a 3-4 mile long, easy to moderate hike along the top of the scenic White Bluffs. Elevation gain ~500 ft.

Earth Hour Night Hike at Chamna Natural Preserve in Richland

Each year, towards the end of March, Earth Hour is observed worldwide to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. The World Wide Fund for Nature organized this event to encourage households and businesses to do their part.

Normally, households and businesses are encouraged to turn off most, if not all, of the lights for one hour. However, other parts of the world exert more effort in taking action against climate change just like the Earth Hour Night Hike that will take place at the Chamna Natural Preserve in Richland on March 29.
