As of June first, the Cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, in conjunction with the Ports of Benton, Kennewick, and Pasco have nearly completed installing thirteen kiosk maps along the Sacagawea Heritage Trail. Each of the kiosk maps are location-specific so trail users can determine their exact location along the 23-miles of paved pedestrian trail and the distance to the next trailhead. An aerial photograph of the location where they are standing are on each of the kiosk maps as well. "We are so fortunate to have such a valuable resource within our community. The Sacagawea Heritage Trail is unique in that it allows local residents and visitors access to our shorelines, where they can walk, run, bike, or rollerblade along the Columbia River and throughout all three cities. The installation of the kiosks is a key component in making the experience more user friendly," stated Kris Watkins, President and CEO of the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau. "We greatly appreciate the corporate sponsors who have stepped forward to provide financial support of the kiosk maps. Without their support, we would not have been able to incorporate this important amenity to our trail." Kiosk map sponsors include: Bechtel National, Inc.; CH2M HILL Hanford Group, Inc.; Franklin PUD; Port of Kennewick; and Port of Benton. The Sacagawea Heritage Trail and the installation of the kiosk maps are special projects of the Tri-Cities Rivershore Enhancement Council (TREC) which is supported by the City of Kennewick; City of Pasco; City of Richland; Benton County; Franklin County; Port of Benton; Port of Kennewick; Port of Pasco; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau; and corporate partner Bechtel National, Inc.

Joe and Colleen, I am going to use the beautiful picture (comment) as a way to say hello & introduce myself. I know you guys from Squidoo I am a lensmaster there and now I am using all my geekiness to help my wife Rhonda and her real estate team Charlotte Premier Realty into taking the plunge into Realtor2.0!

I am not a Realtor and I don't play one on TV (haha). We recently christened TalkCharlotte.com which will hopefully be an exciting conversation about real estate and all the reasons we love calling Charlotte North Carolina home.

So today I just wanted to say hello and say thank you for all you do - i look forward to reading your blog and lenses and plan on being a sponge learning from your work and hopefully at some point adding to the conversation. makehope, michael gibbons

This trail sounds very nice. We have the Pinellas Trail here in Tampa Bay and while it is very popular and used frequently, we do not have kiosk map stations. This would be a great addition though.
