LIGO Post-Eclipse Celebration | Delve Into the Rare Experience

A total solar eclipse will take place on August 21, 2017, and it's going to be visible in some parts of the United States. Oregon will have a great view of this occurrence, and since LIGO is just 3.5-hour drive away from Oregon, LIGO Hanford Observatory will host an event that will commemorate the eclipse.

The co-founder of LIGO, Rainer Weiss, and the Planetary Protection Engineer of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) will grace this event to discuss topics relevant to the total solar eclipse. The celebration will also feature a tour of the observatory. The LIGO Post-Eclipse Celebration event is open to the public. Parents are advised to take little kids to stand alone tours instead of attending the talks.
