More about the Event
Mountaineer and climate scientist Steven Ghan will take you on a visual journey along the crest of the North Cascades, showing evidence of glacier retreat as well as spectacular alpine scenery.
He will then relate his anecdotal evidence with data from around the world showing retreat of glaciers, reductions in mountain snowpack, loss of Arctic sea ice, and melting of Greenland ice. He will place these recent changes within the context of the repeated advance and retreat of ice over the last 800,000 years, and will provide a physically-consistent explanation for them.
Richland Public Library is located at 955 Northgate Drive in Richland, WA.
