Discussion: Columbia Badger Club - Mental Health And Public Safety Pasco, WashingtonOn Friday, March 27 there will be a discussion about Mental Health and Public Safety at the Pasco Red Lion, 2525 N. 20th Avenue Pasco, Washington from 11:30 in the morning until 1:30 in the afternoon. However, time may extend longer due to nature of the topic.

Overview of the Discussion
Too often in our community law enforcement officers become the first responders when the mentally ill are in crisis. At times police are also the last responders as this collision results in deadly consequences. This unfair to the mentally ill and their families, and is also unfair to law enforcement.

Efforts are under way locally as well as at the state level to close the gaps and create safety nets that protect the lives and rights of the mentally ill and at the same time, relieving law enforcement of this growing burden. Speakers include: Chris Jensen, Gordon Bopp, and Dr. Jacqueline Helfgott.
