Annual Challenge Series Races/Soap Box Derby In Richland WashingtonAre you ready to be watch a race and be a part of something wonderful? If your answer is a big YES! Then you are invited to come and join a special event on Saturday, October 3 between Richland High and Carmichael Hill, Lee Boulevard Richland Washington.

Richland School District New School Tours - Lewis & Clark Elementary Richland, WashingtonOn Tuesday, October 6 everyone is invited to Richland School District New School Tours at Lewis & Clark Elementary located in 415 Jadwin Avenue Richland, Washington at 5:30 in the evening.

About the Event
All community members are welcome to tour the new elementary schools which opened in August - Lewis & Clark, Orchard & Sacajawea.  All three projects are part of the $98 million bond issue approved by voters in 2013.

"We thank Richland School District taxpayers for providing up-to-date facilities for our commuity's children," says Superintendent Rick Schulte.  "These schools have opened to positive reviews.  We encourage everyone to come and see first-hand how their tax dollars have been invested."

Presented by Russ Burtner, the event will talk about visual analytic research currently under development at PNNL. Russ will center the discussion around a Human Centered Design methodology, a process in which the needs, wants and limitations of users of a product are considered at each stage of the design process. Additionally he will discuss technical trends that will impact visual analytics in the next 5 to 10 years.

27th Annual Mid Columbia Duck Race In Kennewick, WashingtonFor over 27 years six local Rotary groups including the Rotary Clubs of Columbia Center, Columbia Valley Daybreak, Pasco-Kennewick, Richland, Richland Riverside and Tri-Cities Sunrise. Over $2 million has been raised in the 27 years since the duck race's inception have come together. This year the kick off for the Mid-Columbia Duck race will be held on Saturday, October 10 at Columbia Park in Kennewick (by the bandshell and Lampson Pits) from 10:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon.

More about the Event
The Mid Columbia Duck Race fundraiser has been going on for the past 27 years. During those 27 years the local Rotary groups have raised money used to support local human service organizations and projects.

What is a hammered dulcimer?
Hammered Dulcimer is a stringed musical instrument with 31 string pairs stretch over a trapezoidal shape sound box. This instrument is usually set on a stand in front of the musician who holds a small wooden mallet hammer to strike the strings which create a mandolin like sound.

Academy of Children’s Theatre – Fall Princess Faire Richland, WashingtonThis coming Sunday, October 11 the Academy of Children’s Theatre is presenting the Princess Faire production a combination of Disney’s Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

Ligo Handford Second Saturday Public Tours Richland, WashingtonOn Saturday, October 10 The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) will conduct a public drop-in tours at 1:30 in the afternoon and Observatory tours on the 4th Friday of every month at 3:00 in the afternoon.
