Pasco’s Yard of the Month Program
What a delightful idea to engage the community in city pride and interaction with the abundance of nature in a city like Pasco – the Yard of the Month Program.
Initiated in 1990, Pasco’s Yard of the Month Program strives to acknowledge residents efforts to care and maintain their property, and ultimately, the ambiance of Pasco itself. Friendly competition is a great socializing opportunity for young and old, with volunteer judges who nominate outstanding yards between the months of April to September.
A meeting at City Council sees the announcement of each months winner, and to further celebrate the achievements of the winning gardener, an ad is placed in the Tri-City Herald as well as a notice displayed at Pasco City Hall. There are 4 judging districts, and in 2006 a commercial category was added.
