Make a Difference Day 2010Mark your calendars! The annual Make a Difference Day 2010 will be this Saturday, October 23, 9:00am-1:00pm. Mid Columbia Make a Difference Day has already planned to go to Goethals Park in Richland Washington to assist with the addition of a nature area. This addition to Goethals Park will provide families with a unique interactive experience where they will be able to learn about the forest, wetland, meadow, and shrub steppe, all in this new nature area. All willing and able volunteers will be helping to create a creek, bridges, planting native plants, and more! If you and your family are interested in volunteering then come on out, bring your work gloves, shovels, wheel barrows, and rakes (or whatever you can bring)! Volunteers can download the registration form online and bring it with you to the park or register when you get there.

Make a Difference Day was started in February of 1992 by USA Weekend senior editor Pamela Brown. Since then communities have been coming together to create a better world in their community. Millions of people come together every year to accomplish thousands of projects in hundreds of towns. Projects you create don’t have to be huge they can be the size that works for you and your groups.

Everyone’s doing it…

USA Weekend Magazine: Millions have participated. In 2009, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns. Your project can be as large or as small as you wish! Look around your community and see what needs to be done.
