Throughout the fall the city of Pasco Washington’s Parks and Recreation will be holding a series of sports clinics for elementary aged children. All of these clinics will take place at a business or high school here in Pasco, Washington. Registration for all of these clinics can be done online at the City of Pasco’s website and begins on August 17.
Gymnastics
This is an opportunity for your child(ren) to receive instruction in beginner gymnastic skills, such as tumbling, bars, beam, vault and trampoline. There is an emphasis on discipline, coordination, and of course FUN. There are two sessions for preschoolers (ages 3-Kindergarten) and two for elementary students (grades 1-5) both of which are on Thursdays from 5:15-6:00pm at LifeQuest Fitness Center. The first session for preschool and elementary students is September 9 through October 7 and costs $36 for City of Pasco residents and $54 for non residents. The second session preschool and elementary student is October 14 through November 18 and costs $40 for City of Pasco residents and $60 for non residents. The preschool class is taught by Jasmine Cantu and the elementary class is taught by Alice Bankemper.
Scaled Down Soccer
This soccer program is geared towards 4-7 year olds so that they can develop a strong platform of basic fundamentals. There will be creative and fun activities to teach your child(ren) how to dribble, trap, pass, and shoot a soccer ball. On the last day there will be an organized scrimmage for the youngsters to showcase their newly learned skills. The clinic will take place City Hall’s East Playfield, if the weather is not good then they will move indoors to the City Hall Gym. There will be one clinic on Tuesdays for 6-7 year olds from 4:00-5:00pm beginning September 14 and going through October 19. The cost for this clinic will be $25 for City of Pasco residents and $37 for non residents, the fee includes a shirt. There will be another clinic on Thursdays for 4-5 year olds from 4:00-4:45pm beginning September 16 and going through October 21. The cost for this clinic will be $20 for City of Pasco residents and $30 for non residents, the fee includes a shirt.
Youth Flag Football
The youth flag football camp focuses on teaching kids, grades 5-8 about the fundamentals of football such as, catching, blocking, passing, and good sportsmanship. The camp will begin the first two weeks practicing and then finishing with scrimmages. The camp will be held at the East Playfield at City Hall every Saturday from 11:00am-12:00pm September 25 through October 30.
Youth Volleyball Clinic
This five week long clinic is designed to teach youth the fundamentals and basic skill of volleyball in a positive learning experience. The clinic is for grades 2-5 but will be divided into two divisions; the first will be for grades 2-4 on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:30am October 23 through November 20. The second division will be for 5th graders on Saturday mornings from 10:30am-12:00pm October 23 through November 20. These two clinics may be combined if there is a lack participants signed up. The cost for the clinic is $30 for City of Pasco residents and $45 for non-residents, the cost includes a t-shirt. Both clinics will take place at the City Hall Activity Center.
