Canyon View Elementary School In Kennewick

Canyon View Elementary School is located in Kennewick, Washington, classified as being in or near a midsized city, having a population of less than 250,000.  Before the start of the first World War, Kennewick was just a small town, with a population of less than 2,000 and agriculture as its main industry.  With wartime projects in adjacent regions, its population increased as new residents moved in. 

Canyon View Elementary School, which was built in 1978, is part of Kennewick School District 17, classified as a Primary School offering Kindergarten to Fifth Grade.  It also contains a life skills program, resource room, and reading specialists program.  The school has approximately 471 students and 25 full-time classroom teachers.  The teacher-student ratio is 1:18.  The school’s mission is to send the youth into the future ready to reach their potential as adults through a lifetime of learning.

The school believes that with the help of the parents, the school and the students’ success is within reach.  A Parent-Teacher Organization is a group that supports Canyon View Elementary School.  Funds are given for educational assemblies, playground equipments, classroom project.  Fund raisers like Family Math Night, Bank Day, Santa’s Secret Shop, and School Carnival are organized by this group.  They help make the school great for the kids.

Students are taught to be caring, respectful of others and others’ property, citizenship, responsibility by completing class work and homework, fairness, trustworthiness.  At the Canyon View Elementary School, character counts.
